Nose: Thick and syrupy sweet with marmalade, marshmallow peeps, pound cake, and maple syrup. With water: strawberry candy, violets, and a light vanilla simple syrup.
Palate: Still very sweet but with some surprising savory notes like a chocolate and almond mole. Cracked white pepper and cinnamon sticks on a long, spicy finish with a bit of bitter char. With water: dried orange peels and cardamon move forward but so does a bit more oak bitterness.
Overall: Really fun and layered sweet notes but not very complex beyond that. The oak bitterness brings some astringency that mars an otherwise lovely, syrupy mouthfeel. Still, a fun example from a hard to find distillery. Glad I bought this!
