This Bardstown release is a blend of their own whiskey (mostly 4 year stock, some 3 year) with some 11 year sourced Kentucky of unnamed origin. Blending stock of such different ages is an interesting choice and I'm not sure it works here. The palate feels somewhat disjointed even if the distinct parts are both good on their own. But the bottle design is great! I'm excited to see where this distillery ends up as their own stock ages.
ABV: 47.5%
Nose: Bubblegum cotton candy, banana taffy, buttered popcorn, apple tart with hints of cinnamon, green wood.
Palate: Green apple candy, floral honey, sticky caramel, burnt apple pie, lemon rind, and a bitter cinnamon and oak finish.
