Westland American Single Malt

Distillery: Westland (Washington state)

ABV: 46%

Casks: New and used American oak, ex-bourbon, new and used sherry.

Age: 40 months

Nose: Blueberry tart, lemon meringue pie with graham cracker crust, hints of sage, dried cherry, wet oak leaves, and old leather.

Palate: Amaretto, chocolate and nougat, black tea, dried orange rind, coffee liqueur, hints of campfire, vanilla syrup, and jasmine. Peat and sherry influence come through clearly.

Overall: Solid, full-bodied whiskey with plenty of complexity. I’m sorry to see the old bottlings go but this bottle will keep all of those alive.
